Packing Checklists

Player Checklist

This list is intended to help you pack for a larp, but it might not have everything, so make sure you think through what you might personally need outside of the below. Also, depending on the season, you might not need everything here- you might not want all of your warm layers for an August event (though keep in mind it can be chilly at 1am)

  • Regular Clothing
    • Two or more pairs of underwear
    • Socks. Long enough to be comfortable with whatever shoes you’re wearing (e.g. knee-high for tall boots) and more than you think you need. Seriously, whatever you think you need, double it. Dry feet are crucial, and sweat and water can both ruin your weekend if you’re not careful.
    • Warm underlayers like long underwear: Not cotton- it won’t keep you warm if you get wet. Get synthetic materials (like polyester or nylon), wool, or silk.
    • Sleepwear appropriate for the weather
    • No seriously, more socks than that.
    • Comfortable shoes for when you’re out of game
  • In-Game Clothing (Garb)
    • Note: Your costume doesn’t need to be expensive. Thrift stores often have great stuff for very cheap, and one or two signature pieces can make a simple look stand out.
    • Shoes: Nothing with a very modern look (like brightly colored sneakers) and no prominent logos. Dark sneakers or simple hiking boots are ok, as are military-style boots, flat-footed leather (or faux-leather) boots, sandles, etc. It is crucial that whatever shoes you have are comfortable, don’t pinch or rub too much, and don’t have a high heel. Wear them before you come to the event to make sure they’re ok.
    • Pants/skirts: No jeans or denim, no prominent logos. Outside of that, have fun! Try to have at least two options, in case one gets wet or dirty enough that you can’t wear it.
    • Shirts: No graphic tee shirts. Shirts can be an easy way to make your character stand out, but be sure to have a few, or to have changes of base layers.
    • Accessories: Hats, scarves, gloves, vests, belts, bags, umbrellas, canes etc are great way to elevate your look! Spend time thinking about what sort of accessories your character would have, and check out thrift stores, local crafters, and online to find what you need, or make your own!
    • A couple more pairs of socks maybe?
    • Warm layers/outer layers: Cloaks, jackets, trench coats, whatever you need to stay warm on the cold days and dry on the rainy days. Umbrellas are fine, too, as long as you avoid prominent logos.
    • Weapons, props, etc: What does your character need to use the skills you’ve chosen? A rival nerf gun, a sword, spell packets, a cooler? Check the rulebook to make sure you have what you need.
    • Flashlight (See rules about battery-powered devices)
    • Makeup, gel, and other skin/hair decoration
  • Miscellaneous
    • Toiletries: Deodorant, toothbrush/toothpaste, comb/hairbrush, hair products, facewash, makeup remover, razor/shaving cream, shampoo/conditioner/soap, etc
    • Towel
    • Sleeping bag or sheets/blankets for twin mattress
    • Pillow(s)
    • Medication/medical devices (There is power in sleeping areas, so cpaps can be used)
    • Ear plugs/eye masks if you’d like them for sleeping
    • Phone charger/charging block
    • Stims, headphones, or other centering tools
    • ID card, proof of covid vaccination (if this is your first time)
    • Food for the whole weekend if you didn’t purchase a meal plan, or for dinner Friday/lunch on Saturday if you did purchase a meal plan.
    • Snacks
    • Drinks (water, Gatorade, etc)
    • Did you check that you have enough socks?
  • What NOT to bring:
    • Real-life weapons (no guns, large knives, etc. Multitools are allowed).
    • Drugs you do not have a prescription for. Medical marijuana requires proof of prescription/card, and is not to be consumed in in-game spaces for the courtesy of others. There are designated smoking areas for medical marijuana and smokers.
    • Alcohol is not allowed on site, either in or out of game
